A
lawyer who loves Astromony
I am a lawyer (Rechtsanwalt Würzburg) who loves
astronomy and I am hoping to give you the reader an incite
into the joy of the universe and our solar system and why
people find star gazing so fascinating.
During the day I work for a team of
solicitors and lawyers but my hobby after work hours is
astronomy. Astronomy is the study of planets, stars, galaxies
and comets. This involves collecting information together about
planets and stars by analyzing the nights sky. To enable me do
this I use a telescope which is located in the attic of my
house which I have made in to my own little observatory this
gives me the ability to be able view planets and stars far
away.
The most known about planets of the solar
system are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn,
Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Every planet in the solar system
orbits around the sun. Billions of years ago before there were
people on Earth the solar system was created. As a lawyer who
loves astronomy I try often to get a close up view of the sun.
This is the only star that astronomers can see up close. In
astronomy terms the sun is known as Sol. Although the sun looks
like a great big fireball it is not on fire it looks like it is
on fire because of nuclear reactions in the suns
core.
Comets are also very interesting, these
are made out of ice and dust and are often referred to by
scientists as a planetestimal. The tail which people assume is
behind the comet can actually be in front or behind the comet
it all depends on whereabouts the sun. Comets are known to come
from two places within the solar system the Oort cloud and the
Kuiper belt. Comets are just like small worlds. If you imagine
a tiny version of the moon, a comet looks like a dirty
snowball. There are lots of stars in the night sky, a star is
an enormous ball of plasma. There is evidence to support the
fact that humans began stargazing as far back as the Stone Age.
For instance Stonehenge is a good example of an astronomical
site for star gazers. It is now a well known tourist attraction
in England.
The Milky Way is a collection of billions
of stars and this is where our planet is on this band of stars.
If you look into the night sky you can see the Milky Way with
the naked eye. There are nine planets altogether that make up
the solar system they all surround the sun, which is the main
planet within our solar system. There are also moons, comets
and asteroids as well as the main planets. I hope this give
some sort of incite into why I am a lawyer who loves astronomy
for me after a day dealing with other peoples problems
(Markenrecht) I can go home look into the
nights sky a be taken away to a different
universe.
