I have been a Goldsmith working in Stuttgart (Goldschmied Stuttgart) for a number of years, and after buying gold in Berlin (http://www.goldankauf.net/berlin.html) and all over Germany, I feel I have developed quite an eye for quality pieces. I have seen many variations of rings, bracelets and necklaces all of which have stones set into them, that relate to the signs of the zodiac, but I wanted to design and make my very own horoscopy jewel.

I searched on the web for all information which related to different types of jewels which had already been designed, and was now on general sale. I wanted my creation to be unique and stand out from all of the rest. Some of the jewellery I longed to design included silver pendants, wedding rings (Eheringe) , and pieces inspired by my astrological beliefs.

I was however unsure as to which month would be the best to create a stone for. I looked at the zodiac to see which birth stone was the most appealing: The fire signs were very appealing I felt that I could make a unique jewel, which would appeal to all those who were a fire sign, such as Sagittarius, Leo and Aries.

The Earth signs were Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn, but some how Earth did not appeal to me as much as fire, for an Earth gem would surely have to be a blue or green colour which would be far less exciting than that of a yellow or red, which would be used if I was to make a zodiac jewel for a fire sign.

Then there are the air and water signs, which are: Gemini, Cancer, Libra, Scorpio, Aquarius and Pisces. Although the write ups on some of the above horoscope signs were interesting I was still coming against the same problem. The gem would surely have to be blue as both the sky and the water are associated with being that colour.

I made my choice I would make a horoscope jewel for a fire sign. The sign I chose was to be Leo, as Leo was also associated with being a lion I felt that I could put much colour into this gem, and it would appeal to all those whose sign of the zodiac was Leo the lion.

I set to work, I wanted to put the gem in to necklaces, rings and bracelets, I wanted the colour to be vibrant so I chose red with a slight mix of orange running through it, the finished product was amazing. It is now on general sale in my shop in Stuttgart (Gravuren Stuttgart) and I have had many people buying it, both on line and over the counter. I find I sell more when the month of August comes up, I would imagine this makes a good birthday present.

After designing one horoscope jewel I decided I would continue forward and gems for the other signs in the zodiac too, my display would look far more appealing if it had all months of the zodiac on it and not just one. I am at the moment designing Aries, again a fire sign but this time it will be yellow with red running through, still as vibrant and appealing as my first. This time though I will be concentrating more on making these gems to put into wedding rings.
