Knitting baby clothes while stargazing 

I am a 33 year old woman whose main interest is stargazing. I discovered that I had an interest in the stars, after sitting out one warm summer’s night and looking into the night’s sky. I found it peaceful and relaxing; as I was sat I noticed a fair amount of the stars in the sky gathered into clusters. I was most intrigued to learn what these clusters were called so the next day I went to the library to research them. I found the solar system fascinating, I brought some books home and sat and gazed at the nights sky trying, comparing the sky to the books. It was on one of these nights that I found myself position of knitting baby clothes (which is my occupation), while gazing at the stars.

I study the planets within our solar system, which are named Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Mars, Neptune, Uranus and Pluto. All of the planets within the solar system orbit the sun. The solar system was created billions of years before man stepped food on planet earth. What intrigues me more than anything about the solar system is, the fact that us humans are on a planet which is floating about somewhere in a universe.

Other than this my main interest in the solar system is the stars. The Milky Way is a band of stars which is visible from earth, and can be seen clearly in our night’s sky. The sun is the biggest star within our solar system, and is referred to by astronomers as SOL. Although, the sun does not look like a star, it looks more like a giant ball of fire. Despite appearances the sun is not on fire. The sun looks this was because of the nuclear reactions in the suns core.

I am in a rather privileged position, in that I do not have to go out to work to earn my living. I can do my work from home as my chosen profession is knitting baby clothes (Babykleidung). This allows me to earn money from the comfort of my own home.

I started knitting jumpers, hats and booties after the birth of my first son, I found that a lot of my friends were asking me to knit for their babies too. I discovered that knitting was something that I was good at. I progressed from knitting for friends and family, and started to sell my products with the help of the internet to baby clothing companies (RoomMates) for a healthy profit. It was soon after this, that I found I could knit whilst gazing at the stars.

For me stargazing takes my mind off the stresses of everyday life, so being able to combine this and work, for me is an absolute ideal situation.

I would recommend stargazing to any one who has a hectic and stressful lifestyle. If you are able to combine the hobby of stargazing with the knitting of baby clothes, you will find that the stresses of work and everyday life just ease away.
